The Renault Clio Campus has a choice of six engines from the 75bhp 1.2 to 1.4 and a 1.6 16 valves (111bhp) petrol unit. The 1.5 dCi common rail diesel is available in a choice 68bhp, 86bhp or 106bhp versions. The 1.6-litre is available with a four-speed auto option, while an automated manual will follow in 2006.

The new Renault Clio is still very easy to drive, comfortable and practical with good equipment levels and visibility although the entry levels do not come equipped with air conditioning as standard. The models start at with the Extreme which includes electric front windows, CD radio with finger-tip remote control, 15-inch alloys and air re-circulation. The Expression models add air conditioning and electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors and 'see me home' headlamp function. The Dynamique models remove air conditioning to the options list but the 1.5 dCi 106 version has air-con as standard. Dynamique S models have 16-inch alloy wheels for a sports look. Options through out the new range include an electric panoramic sunroof and air conditioning, turn-by-turn satellite navigation and dashboard-mounted six-CD autochanger.

The Renault Clio has safety in mind with six airbags (twin front and side airbags and 'anti-submarining' airbags in the front seats), while curtain airbags are standard on all but the entry-level Extreme model. ABS and a top five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating with an optional electronic stability programme. All models get an immobiliser and central locking which make a Renault Clio a good choice for insurance purposes.

Service intervals are now 18,000 miles (12 months) on the petrol and 12,000 miles (12 months) on the diesel, three years/60,000 miles warranty from the manufacturer.
