The Renault Modus has engines from 1.2 litre to a 1.4-litre 98bhp petrol as well as a 1.6 litre. New 1.5 dCi diesel engine that delivers 86 bhp plus a 2.0 TD version (101ps).

The new Renault Modus equipment list includes electric front windows as standard through out the range, trip computer, remote central locking and the under-floor storage compartments are available on the rest of the range.Expression models add a 2 x 15W single CD RDS radio with 2 speakers, fingertip remote control and speed function electrically operated as well as heated door mirrors. Dynamique have 15-inch alloy wheels, metallic finish door handles and front fog lamps. The Privilege derivatives have air conditioning, electric rear windows, an alarm, automatic headlamps, cornering lights and automatic windscreen wipers. The 'Boot Chute' double opening tailgate and integrated bike rack are available on all except the Authentique model.

The Renault Modus has been awarded a top five-star Euro NCAP rating plus six airbags as standard (on all but Authentique models), ABS with electronic brake force distribution comes with emergency braking assistance, front seatbelts have pre-tensioners which tighten before an impact and load limiters to help reduce the risk of internal injury. ISOFIX attachments are also fitted for child safety seats, and the front passenger airbags and pre-tensioner can be deactivated should a child seat be fitted.

Security on the Modus is impressive with features that include remote central locking and automatic locking (the vehicle locks itself if it is accidentally unlocked) and a Thatcham category two engine immobiliser, anti-drill doors and a locking fuel cap to help with insurance (only the Privilege model benefits from a category one alarm).

Service intervals on the Renault Modus are two years or 18,000 miles. Thee years or 60,000 miles manufacturers warranty.
